• Mrs. Sangeetha Thyagarajan: Respect and courtesy are almost like the fundamental right of each student. It builds their self respect and confidence. We must remember that school is the first outer world the child is exposed to after being within a loving household. So, teachers take up an important place in nurturing the child. By respecting the child's views, opinions and showing courtesy and understanding at each stage of development we are building their self- relience and confidence. What we give them, they will give back to the world.

• Mr. S. C. Vohra: A teacher must respect students for all the possible reasons to make impossible possible. A teacher isn’t handling just a small child but a great human being in the making with infinite potential to be a great leader, a diplomat, a social reformer and who knows a Jesus , a Prophet Mohammad, a Lord Rama or a mother Teresa.

A teacher must shower all his love, feelings of courtesy, good behaviour to make him feel that s/ he is a unique creature sent for a unique purpose. Everything that happens in this world has a divine plan ready to unravel in due course of time.

S/he must be respected to reveal a teacher’s own character, humility, goodness, divine spark and prove that S/he is the epitome of all virtues he wants to see and create in the world.
A teacher must accord all love and respect to his students to compensate the lack of it at their homes ( which is a reality in a good number of cases. )
S/he must create confidence in him / her to pour out all that worries or pleases him/ her.

He must be respected as a matter of his / her right not as an obligation of duty or favour.

Above all, they must be respected to prove that education is the mother of all virtues and goodness and teachers being educated are really endowed with all these qualities.

To prove that “विद्या ददाती विनयम” and “ सा विद्या या विमुकतये” are not just good words written in the scriptures but practical realities manifesting through the gurus.

He/ she must be made to realise that-
“Life is real , life is earnest and the grave is not its goal.

Dust thou art and to dust returnest was not spoken of the soul. “

Dr Sekar Seenivasan: Students are God's gift to a teacher whom only maketh a man into a teacher. Further the student learns these virtues directly from the teacher .

• Mrs. Archana: Not just teacher to student or vice versa. Every human should respect another, and that virtue of respect, kindness and courtesy - a teacher can inculcate in pupils when they demonstrate and live with that.

• Ms. Shelly Gandhi: Simply because we are teachers .... and we should reflect the real and actual meaning of a true teacher. Otherwise, we won't be teachers rather a person with a B.Ed or equivalent degree.  We areexpected to evolve each day till we truly attain d real meaning of a teacher.

• Mr. Paul Moses: What we sow we shall reap. What we give we receive. When we respect students, they learn it from us and give it back to us.
Moreover, after they learn it, they start practicing it. In the process, people observe the students of their behaviour. Meanwhile, they get get to know about the teacher who taught them manners by practice. Student has the chance of introducing the teacher to the public. When the public appreciates the student, the teacher is honoured.

Moreover, when we respect the student, we show our culture. This shows our image. The same when observed by the student, comes up with an attitude of developing the same in him / her.

The students whose parents are from rich background expect some standards from teachers. This also demands that teachers should respect students and leave alone the present rules.

Respecting someone because of rule or some fear is no matter of importance. But when the respect comes out of us as a part of our culture, it brings great honour.

Respecting anyone is a reciprocal gesture right from young to old. There's no difference between great and small. When a child is respected, it is not just the child which is respected but the human seen in the child is respected. Treating everyone as a human makes us respect everyone.

• Leader Ms. Leena: To get in return we expect for us and the foremost thing is respect and courtesy are those traits that should be inbuilt that should come through our heart because a living being has to give that much respect to every other being in the world for peace, love and prosperity

A teacher full of principles with softness to others is always honoured in society and the best part is the youth is able to understand this language only. If a child has done anything wrong then this strategy only can make him or her realise and this can prove to be the best remedy to correct their behaviour later.

Last but not the least teachers who give respect to others and remain disciplined and courteous in life always remain in the thoughts and discussions  of children.

• Dr. Balasubramanian: Here Teacher is a giver or a informer and a knowledgeable, and experienced and more like a parent ( father or mother )

Student is a listener and slightly ignorant or innocent or unaware of many experiences and some time even with poor language or poor dictionary and some time even cannot put a question  or a sentence properly, like a sick person  talk with doctor. Doctor cannot confirm just by his words, since he is ignorant he may communicate false some times, so here giving time is very valuable, giving respect makes the student comfort, student easy with a teacher, some time even a poor Langauge, a real teacher cannot or should not make fun, can listen (not hearing ) to know the  real quest.

If one is not giving respect, one may not in a comfort zone to speak more, talk more, explain more to show what the exact need is, real quest is.

Some time language not communicate the real demand

One time one student’s father was in bed, icu due to accident. He took some day’s leave .

Later teacher asked when he returned to school

Question.

How long it is. ?

One student said it is 5 metre long !

Another student said  no ,
it is 10 days back

Here grammer says  right  question. And sadly makes 2 answers , so quality of question is very important ,

when we give respect we increase the quality of questions and answers makes sense , if not some time it’s becomes fun, disappoints the listener, he may not come for open discussion , class room is a learning platform amd not like  a radio lessons

• Azeez: Respect is caring enough to consider how words, actions and  values....impact others.

Having respect is when you feel good about someone because of how they act.

Showing respect is when you care how your actions impact others.

Respect is a denomination of social currency.

Respect is fruit of our action, deed, value....

World is behind possessions, civilizations and developments to get respect.

Respect is something we can earn it.

When you are known to respect others, people tell you things. They trust you with secrets.

Respect also signals to others that you recognize boundaries and appreciate aesthetics, values, and beliefs.

People also use respect when they really mean honoring the dignity of others.

This is also about values.

I get confused about when the recognition and appreciation of someone's humanity are being respectful or if admiring and valuing a person’s independence, self-sufficiency, and competence is being respectful.

I have found that respect exists along dimensions. You can be respected for your ability to master your emotions but you can be even more respected when you master your impulses and stay disciplined enough to work towards and achieve your goals.

You can be respected for your ability to assert what you want and need from others as well.

You can also be respected for your leadership ability, in the ability to inspire others, the ability to communicate clearly, and the ability to empower others.

Being able to organize activities and groups of people may also gain respect.

Being able to do that in school in powerful.

In school, people will respect you for your habits, your avoidance of drama, for being trustworthy, for being honest, for accepting responsibility for your own actions and not blaming others for your shortcomings.

But in high school, you also are in the process of learning and developing.

If you are more respected for thinking for yourself, developing your own values, promoting your own beliefs, and for forming your own opinions, it is accomplished by learning.

You learn enough science to test your own beliefs and suspicions.

You learn enough to compare and contrast one concept against another, one person’s beliefs and actions against those of someone else.

You learn how to categorize and rank. With all of these skills in interpreting and analyzing and thinking, you must also be able to change your mind and make decisions based on new information even if that information challenges your old beliefs.

It’s not simple though, Getting respect requires different relationships.

You will not be the same thing to different people. Depending on the kinds of people at your school and depending on the school’s culture, you might not get respect for the behaviors and qualities that you and your family values.
